about little league baseball and softball

What is the difference between a Regular Season Team and an All Star Team?

Little League International's main goal is the All Star Tournament.  This tournament starts in July and is intended to crown the best team in the World in each division.  We have all watched the Little League World Series on ESPN, that is the 12u Baseball Division.  There are different divisions in both baseball and softball, the 12u baseball division gets the most television coverage.  The All Star Divisions are 10u, 11u, 12u, 14u, 16, 18u in both baseball and softball.

The regular season is designed to get players ready to try out for these All Star Teams.  The regular season must have a minimum of 12 games.  These games are intended to get the players ready for the All Star Tournament.

Not all regular season players will make an All Star Team.  The ideal roster is 12 to 13 players on an All Star Team.  If more than 13 players are interested, a try-out is conducted and the 12 to 13 best players make the All Star Team.  If needed this Try-out must be conducted after June 15th.
